I am an immigrant born in Colombia. I immigrated to the United States more than 18 years ago. I earned a Master’s Degree (LL.M) in International Law at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, FL. Prior to establishing Portillo Immigration Law in 2014, I worked for Roberto Moreno, former immigration judge and other prestigious firms in Central Florida. I am admitted to practice in the state of New York and in the Republic of Colombia; my practice is limited to Immigration and Nationality Law.
I have extensive experience representing individuals and families in complex immigration matters before EOIR and USCIS. I have been able to obtain grants of asylum, withholding of removal and CAT, adjustment of status with waivers, cancellation of removal for non legal permanent residents and permanent residents. In addition to my practice , I am one of the counselors of the selected pool of immigration attorneys for the Mexican Consulate in Orlando, FL. I am frequently invited to offer presentations and workshops in the community on a variety of topics in immigration law. I enjoy and devote countless hours supporting the immigrant community. I am also an advocate for immigration reform, I have appeared on Hispanic news outlets as Univision and Telemundo where I discussed DACA, immigration reform, and current immigration topics.
